Houston, TX
Ocean Palace is a HUGE Chinese restaurant next to Hong-Kong City Mall in Houston. It’s a two story building that does some really good Dim Sum and not bad with their regular Chinese cookin’. On this particular trip to Houston, I was treated to a multi-course Asian family-style meal. Here we go..
House Special Soup
Steamed Shrimp
Boiled Chicken
Not all of the courses are pictured. So lets start from the top… The mystery soup.. lol I asked the waiter what it was and there was a confused look on his face... I’m going to call it “Chinese special soup in a mushroom broth” haha It was rather refreshing and had a very full taste. The steamed shrimps were plump and seasoned very nicely. You had to get your hands a little dirty! The chilled boiled chicken was what you expect. The sauce makes it!
Peking Duck with Buns
BBQ Beef
Whole Steamed Fish
For the finale (before the infamous last course of fried rice) Peking Duck and buns, BBQ Beef, and The Steamed Fish… all executed very nicely. The duck had the crisp skin, the bbq beef was tender and also a table favorite, and the steamed fish put it over the top. I still go to Ocean Palace mainly for it’s Dim Sum, but I can actually consider it for normal dinners now. If you’ve never been there, I recommend it.. try the dim sum first! =)

hmm my friends always told me that ocean palace wasn’t that great of a dim sum place. i went there once and it was…okay.
We’ve driven by it so many times and every time I’ve wondered!
I love dim sum. Terrible that there aren’t many great places in Austin…I guess the search continues!
We’ll have to try it when we’re there…I’d like to find some wonderful Dim Sum.
Peking Duck with buns sounds really good right now. I love how the skin is crisp and the buns are so soft. I remember as a kid, I would be a total brat and just take the skin and leave the meat and bone for someone else to eat. Oh and we’d always eat the multicolored shrimp chips that came on the plate. Good times =D -L
I am SO hungry!!!
