  • Salt Lick 360

    Austin, Texas

Salt Lick 360 is a pretty nice BBQ place in Austin.. They rival the famous Rudy’s (also located in Austin). So what’s their claim to fame? I would have to narrow it down to 3 things. They have a BYOB policy, yes “bring your own beer”! (from what it seems only at the other location. sadly, the one I went to didn’t.. is that strange?) #2 is the unique sweet then tangy not quite ketchup based bbq sauce.. It’s a welcome change to the generic sauces! And lastly, you can order their ALL YOU CAN EAT FAMILY STYLE! Yes you heard right.. for one price you get unlimited everything! Keep reading and you’ll see what I’m talking about.. =)

The sides.. Mashed Taters, Reb Beans, and Slaw (The Family Style Portion)

The Meats: Sausage, Ribs and Brisket (The Family Style Portion)

So as I was saying earlier.. Salt Lick has all you can eat  bbq. Delicious briskets, tasty ribs, and some very flavorful sausage! They also give you some potato sald, coleslaw, and red beans.. All which are nothing more than fillers. Save your stomach for the meats.. The bbq sauce is interesting. It’s sweet and slightly tangy, I like their spicier version better.. you gotta ask for it.

    Their composed one serving plate.

    Peace Cobbler! mmmm…

If you don’t want the family style.. you can get a composed plate (pictured above) which gives you a taste of everything that would normally come with the “all you can eat” option. The ladies in the group went with that. And for dessert? The peach cobbler is a must order! If my mom made peach cobbler this is how it would taste… Ice cream just makes everything better, don’t you agree? =) Try out Salt Lick 360 if you’re ever in the Austin area. you won’t be disappointed.

anywho, i’m going to austin next week! yayyy!

  • OMG.  Yum.

  • omg that looks sooo gooooooood.

  • Salt lick has by far the best brisket I have ever… it’s so moist and tender.  In NYC, every summer they come for the Big Apple BBQ and they are one of the first stops I make  (actually they are my 3rd stop… 21st St Bar & Grill is the 2nd for their ribs and beans.. and first is always Big Bob Gibson for their pulled pork)

    ooo peach cobbler…yummmmmmyyyy!

  • Oh, my Lord, that looks insanely delicious, and although I have never have a hankering to go to Austin, I do now!

I always wondered the differences between different areas’ BBQ sauce.

  • effing wow… must be so hard to stay thin w/ all of that being all you can eat T.T *_*

  • mmm…. MEAT with more MEAT and a side of Potato.

  • salt lick 360 is no where near as badass as the original salt lick in drippings springs. still one of the best BBQ places in the country, but the original has an ambiance and locations that just cant be found anywhere else in the world of BBQ.

  • yum. this place looks awesome. i want some meat. right now.

  • I’ve never been to the Salt Lick but I’ve had Rudy’s aplenty….mmm. I think I need to try the Salt Lick.

  • Hey, I’ve actually done a review on the place too?

I didn’t like it as much though. I didn’t really like the sauce though…too vinegary for my tastes and too tangy. I guess I’m used to the thicker and richer tomato based sauces that are slathered on. But honestly…it’s all about the smoke and the length of time the meat has been cooking. I’ve found that’s what makes the different to my taste buds!

    Go Texas barbecue!

  • Oh my goodness, that’s not even funny how gooooood that looks!!!

  • The pictures are a tad dark but outstanding as usual. I have to get a camera! I have to get a camera! You inspire me!

  • the one time i went there, i wasn’t very impressed at all. i thought salt lick’s was good, a bit above average but nothing like what all the hype about this place makes it out to be.

  • meat+potato=never go wrong

  • Potatoes!

Thanks for the post. Mhmm, it’s making me hungry though (=
