  • La Madeline’s

    Harahan, La

Sometimes you crave a homecooked American meal, something like mac and cheese or a meat loaf… There are many places that you can go to find items like that. But where do you go when you want a simple French “homecooked” meal? I go to La Madeline’s. It’s a chain restaurant that can be found in Louisiana, Texas, Atlanta, and D.C. They serve hearty french style foods and make fresh breads inhouse.

    Basil Chicken Pasta

My entree was the Basil Chicken Pasta. It was creamy and packed with basil (my favorite herb!). On top were diced tomatoes, grilled chicken, and a mini french baguette. It was very tasty and exactly what I was in the mood for. Rich creamy goodness all on one a plate! =)

    Chicken Friand

My appetizer was the Chicken Friand. Chicken stuffed into a crispy flaky dough and topped with a mushroom cream sauce. The mushroom sauce definitely makes this dish work. I should just order the sauce and some bread next time.. It’ll be great! lol If you’ve never been there, It’s an affordable way to get pretty good food and enjoy it in a nice French cafe setting. Very rustic building design and very nice overall feel to the place..

And if you say it’s your first time there, they’ll give you a free loaf of bread! That was many years ago.. I don’t know how they do it now.. lol
