The Backstreet Cafe
Houston, TX
So this past weekend was my bestfriend’s wedding. She wanted to make me one of her “bridesmaids” but I’m a guy and that’s just weird.. lol Although she did still give me a part in the wedding and I was invited to the “Wedding Party Brunch”. It was at the Backstreet Cafe in Houston, Texas.
The Backstreet Cafe is in the midtown area? of Houston. It’s a nice location and it can be missed if you’re not paying attention. I valeted my truck just to see them u-turn it and park it 5 steps across the street on the curb. lol The cafe itself is very quiant and cozy. There are a lot of trees which created a comfortable shaded environment, if you choose to sit in their court yard.
Beer and Bread
The “Kuade” CrabcakesNothing like a nice glass of beer at 12 noon on a Friday morning! =) The crab cakes pictured above belonged to one of the groom’s men. He’s not a huge guy but his portion was a pretty tiny, considering the price. The picture I took made it look a little larger than it really was. But he did say that it was really good, just small. haha
Seafood Risotto

Sear ScallopsMy seafood risotto was delicious. Clams, Mussels, Lobster, Shrimp, Fish and even Scallops just loaded the plate with an ocean of flavor! It was cooked very nicely and seasoned even better. I highly recommend it. My date had the Seared Scallops with some other stuff… I was not a fan of it and neither was she. I have to judge this place on what I tasted, but that one taste of her plate might have cost it 1 or 2 smileys. Only fair, right?

That is literally about four blocks from where I used to live in Houston. Too funny. The risotto looks delish!
It all looks great, we’ll have to try it when we’re there.
The scallops is making me drool.
Hmmnnn…. I haven’t eatten there for maybe a couple of years now,… but when I use to live out there, Backstreet was one of my favorite restaurants to dine out at. I believe that they’ve gone through a new chef… so I know that a few things were bound to change. But it saddens me to know that my gem isn’t the same. =( I use to always look forwayd to the new menus of each season… but maybe I’ll stop by on my next visit.
